By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them. And indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ” (CCC 1499).
Twice a year, the parish offers Anointing of the Sick to those who need it at a special Mass. The Sacrament of Anointing is for those who are baptized, have reached the age of reason and begin to be in danger due to sickness or old age. This includes elderly who are weakened, though no notable illness is present; those who are facing surgery due to serious illness; and those who suffer serious mental illness. The Sacrament of Anointing is not for minor illness or discomfort.
In addition to the scheduled Anointing of the Sick, the Sacrament is available in emergencies by calling the Rectory for the priest on duty.
